The Pop-Pickers Have Picked Decentralised Media: the Fall of Top of the Pops and the Rise of the Second Media Age by by David Beer, University of York

The 'Second Media Age' is truly a revolution in the way internet people consume media, and to some point, a renaissance. The structure of music consumption and distribution was based on a demand manipulated by popular media. The Top of the Pops, for example, showed popular artists based on sales for that week. [Essay] The Internet in Everyday Life: Gaming

2009-10-21; Tags: Opinion, Essay

Describe and explain how everyday life is now experienced through Internet-mediated activities of information and communication with reference to games.

I had never been unemployed, so it was a fast learning curve for me to adapt to my new situation; I entered that job straight out of high-school, literally starting leavers week, no time for play.

In that time I learnt a few things which I felt would be important to share, whether they would be of use to someone who was recently put out of a job, or simply tips to be frugal, but not tight-fisted.

Get high value assets in order

If you have a car, and still some savings, take the time to possibly get it serviced, or at least fix the small things, or the neccessary components. Check things such as: windscreen wipers, tyres, tyre pressure, oil level, radiator fluid/coolant and the level of the windscreen spray reservoir. If you have issues with your car,... [continued]

Brandalism
Any advertisement in public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It belongs to you. It's yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.
